Many years ago I sang with my local youth choir at our director’s wedding in a small church in Mark, Somerset. At about 10 in the morning I was alone in the church. I made a cup of tea and went outside to drink it in the fresh air. In the middle of a small, silent English village, with a soft layer of mist on the ground, I felt remarkably calm and peaceful. In softly, whispers I try to capture this snapshot of my childhood.
